When I’m trying to study for my final and my non-law friend is calling me to talk about her personal problems.
I’m like:

Today the Supreme court heard the SB 1070 case, I hope they strike it down- but they probably won’t. I can’t stop thinking about “Coyote Song” by Bright Eyes, which is about two people being separated by the border due to shitty immigration laws. It makes me sad, because it’s not some fictional love story in a song- it happens to people everyday. Having immigration laws that actually look at immigrants as human beings, with families and lovers and lives, is necessary.
And yes, Chief Justice Roberts, this is about racial profiling. The fact that looking “suspicious” (aka mexican) and not having your ID or paperwork on you while your on a jog, or running to the store, can mean that you will detained until you can prove your citizenship is disgusting and offensive.
